Electronic Equipment Company (EE) was founded in 1954 by Harry Shupack
and Phillip Radell. Mr. Shupack was also the founder of Electronic
Equipment Company in New York, which originated in 1926. Phil Radell
grew up in the early "radio days" of the industry. He was extremely
interested in electronics as he saw the potential for growth in what were
then "new" technologies. Phil was responsible for wiring and installing
one of the first Public Address Systems in New York City schools while he
was still a Technical High School student. Eventually, he founded
Bristol Radio, a radio repair shop in Brooklyn, N.Y.
During World War II, Phil acted as the Electrical Foreman at Marine
Electric Company in New York City. During this time he installed early
radar systems on everything from Naval Destroyers to the Staten Island
Ferry. He also did extensive work on electrical panels and systems of
many different kinds of ships. This work involved converting civilian
ships to military status, and the reverse when the war had ended.
After the war, Phil became involved with every aspect of commercial and
industrial electronics. While working in Florida he saw a potential
market that was not being served. Phil's son George joined the company
in 1955 on a part-time basis while attending the University of Miami, and
later became a full-time member of the company.
Originally, EE's primary customers were airlines located at the Miami
International Airport Depot (MIAD) such as Eastern, National, and Pan
American Airlines. It wasn't long before the company became involved
with the newly developing OEM businesses in the area. EE sustained its
growth through all types of economic conditions on the underlying
philosophy and policy of topnotch service to all levels of customers.
As the Industry and markets have evolved, so too has our company.
Electronic Equipment is now a focused distributor of semiconductor
products. Continuing its policy of straight answers and rapid response,
it has become the company counted on by the worlds largest O.E.M.'s and
C.E.M.'s for both scheduled and spot supply. We still believe, as our
founder Phil Radell did, that Customer Service is Everything. Our
history and reputation as a market leader, our strong orientation toward
"absolute customer service", and our leanly structured responsive
organization, have created an company that is clearly the leader for
electronics requirements fulfillment. We look forward to our
relationship with your company and appreciate your interest in ours.
Sincerely,
Electronic Equipment Company, Inc.
